Newfoundland: Julia & Jabez Butler
Photos of Butler family farm life in Topsail and the 5 children of Julia & Jabez, all of whom emigrated to the US via Boston. My grandfather, Harold Geer Butler, told me the story of how some neighbors urgently needed tickets to Boston from Topsail; my grandfather gave them to the neighbors. Their ferry hit an iceberg & sunk. We might never have had a family story to tell....

Oak Park, IL: Harold Geer & Gertrude Peet Butler
The Butler clan in Oak Park was founded by Harold Geer & Gertrude Peet Butler. Both were from Topsail, Newfoundland, and settled first in Massachusetts. Harold had a degree in electrical engineering, earned in 1912 from the prestigious Lowell Institute in Boston. They bought a house on Grove Street in Oak Park & moved there with their two daughters, Eleanor and Margery. This page also includes a link to Marge Butler Parker's 90 years of memories--a transcript of a video we made together.
Clarendon Hills, IL: Eleanor Butler & Glen Wilkins
This gallery includes photos of Harold & Gertrude Butler in their Clarendon Hills years as well as Harold's remarriage to Mae 5 years after Gertrude died.
Parker Clan
The Parker Clan dates to at least the 18th Century in America. We have photos of ancestors born in 1835 and on. Since I have the most photos of this clan, I had to create pages for the main milestones and family generations. I will add a page on dad's Army days in the Aleutian Islands soon. Click on the links to their pages below.

Illinois: Dr. Sterling Glen & Margery Butler Parker
The Illinois Parker clan was started by Dr. Sterling Glen & Margery Butler Parker. Sterling had earned his MD degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL and met Margery while she was in nurse's training at West Suburban Hospital. She was on rotation at Children's Hospital in Chicago where Sterling was working as a switchboard operator for extra funds. She caught his eye & by the time she arrived in her room, he was already phoning her for a coffee date. After their first date, Marge said, "That was it for me." They were married for 68 years (Nov. 22, 1938). They had four daughters: Linda, Anne, Nancy, and Jane. This link connects to a page of all the Parker gallery links.
