I added several Silverman records from the Hearne Democrat and historical web sites also on Jake, Alex, and Maurice Silverman. Also added were Sarah & Bill Silverman's listing in a Milwaukee temple. At Genealogy.com, I found a good article on name changes at Ellis Island & how they were created by the shipping companies in the original country, not the Ellis clerks. Some families used as "public" name as well as a "private" name as there were no name rules in the early 1900s. Family genealogy for them would be very complicated as different names might appear in different records. Gitler on the passenger list became Gertrude Hertz in the US.
